Overview
Books describe what someone recorded. The bank describes what happened. In a property business those two drift apart constantly, because the recording depends on somebody remembering and the spending does not.
Plaid is the bridge most financial tools use to read an account securely, without you handing over banking credentials to anyone. Connecting one gives ProhostAI the real transaction stream: what was paid, when, and to whom.
That is what makes reconciliation tractable. A card payment to a hardware shop on the morning of a maintenance visit is almost certainly that job, and the AI can propose the match rather than leaving it to someone’s memory six weeks later. The result is per-property costs you can actually defend to an owner.
What ProhostAI can do with Plaid
Once an account is linked through Plaid, ProhostAI can read transactions and reconcile them against your operations.

- Feed the accounting picture Reconcile against what has been recorded so gaps become visible.
Setup
Plaid handles the bank connection itself. ProhostAI never sees your banking credentials — you authenticate with your bank through Plaid.
- Open ProhostAI and go to Settings → Connections.
- Search for Plaid and select Connect.
- Choose your bank and sign in through Plaid’s secure flow.
- Select the accounts to link, then ask about recent spend to confirm it works.
Good to know
- Credentials go to your bank through Plaid, not to ProhostAI. Neither Plaid nor ProhostAI stores your banking password.
- Link a business account rather than a personal one — mixing personal spend into property reporting is hard to unpick later.
- This is read-only. It cannot move money, only see what moved.
- Bank connections occasionally need re-authentication; that is the bank’s requirement, not a fault.
FAQ
Is it safe to connect my bank?
You authenticate with your bank through Plaid’s own flow, so ProhostAI never sees or stores your banking credentials. Plaid is the same bridge most financial apps use for this.
Can ProhostAI move money?
No. The connection is read-only — it can see transactions and balances, not initiate payments.
Which account should I link?
A business account. Linking a personal account mixes personal spending into property reporting, which is difficult to separate afterwards.
Why does it ask me to reconnect sometimes?
Banks periodically require re-authentication for third-party access. It is a bank requirement rather than a problem with the connection.
How do I disconnect Plaid?
Open Settings → Connections in ProhostAI and disconnect it, which removes the link to the account.
